The Let’s Read project focuses on the young adult novel THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET written by Sandra Cisneros. THE HOUSE ON MANGO STREET is about Esperanza, the daughter of Mexican immigrants living in a poor, predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhood in Chicago, and her family and neighbors on Mango Street. The book’s focus on themes of home and identity, concise chapters, and accessible language makes it an excellent fit for teenagers reading in a second language.
